LEVEL 4  ::  CROFT MANOR

[Checkpoint] Treasure #1 - Break a jar on the right side to collect a treasure.

Follow the tunnel until the vertical pole.

Treasure #2 - Pick up the treasure hidden inside another jar on the right.

Climb it then perch on it and jump forward. Head forward until you reach a scaffolding on top of a vast crypt. [Checkpoint] Shoot the eight bats flying towards Lara and hang from the edge then drop down.

Treasure #3 - Locate the beam on the left and perform a jump to land on it. Traverse it and jump forward to reach a broken balcony (as shown here). From this place, kill the four spiders running towards Lara and pick up a treasure on the ground.

Treasure #4 - Notice the horizontal pole in front of the platform and perform a long jump to grab it. Swing and jump to reach the next platform to find a treasure. Make your way back to the scaffolding above the crypt.

Hang from the left corner of the platform and drop down to land on the beam. Traverse it, jump up to grab the edge of the upper beam. Shimmy to the left and drop down on a parallel beam. Traverse it, drop down to reach the lower platform. Then drop down on the ground.

Shoot ten spiders running towards Lara. Locate the same scaffolding on the right of the room and head towards it.

Treasure #5 - Locate a jar on the left of the structure and collect the treasure hidden inside.

Climb the scaffholding. From the top beam, jump to reach the top of a broken balcony (as shown here) and pick up a health pack. Jump forward to grab an horizontal pole and stand on it (do not swing, otherwise you will miss the next pole). Jump forward to grab the second pole then swing and jump to reach the last one. Jump to reach the corridor and kill four spiders.

Treasure #6 - Grab the horizontal pole on the right and stand on it. Walk towards the wall, then jump up to reach a small ledge. Climb up and pull up in the alcove to collect a treasure. Climb down.

On the left, make a mental note of the mechanism and the two stained-glass windows. Go down the stairs, kill four spiders on your way.

Treasure #7 - There's a jar to break on the platform after the first stairway. Pick up a treasure.

In the next corridor, turn left and follow the hallway. Pick up a health pack in the corner. Four spiders will attack you, so get rid of them. Now follow the hallway until a closed gate. Step on the pressure plate on the ground : the gate elevates. Go back, grab the small rock in the corridor and leave it on the pressure plate. One rock isn’t enough. Follow the corridor until the huge hall with the mechanism, the wooden gate and the two stained-glass windows. [Checkpoint] Grab the small rock on your left and go stack it on the pressure plate (as shown in this screenshot). The gate will remain open.

Relic - Go back and follow the corridor to the room with the monumental door. Before getting there, notice the small gate now open on the left side of the hallway (as shown here). Crawl in the small tunnel and collect the relic.

Make your way back to the pressure plate and grab one of the rocks. Throw it through the doorway (using the Grenade button, as shown here). Make sure it’s on the other side of the gate, then throw the second one. Roll to pass the gate before it shuts down. [Checkpoint] Stack the two small rocks on the pressure plate behind the statue : fires are lit and the lateral gates are both open.

Treasure #8 - Go back to the tunnel where you found the relic and follow it. Take the stairs on the right, go up to a balcony and grab the horizontal pole. Remove the pole from the wall (using the Interact button) and go back downstairs. Traverse the huge hall with the monumental door and head to the opposite tunnel. Turn right and go up the stairs. Upstairs, kill six bats and locate a small hole in the wall. Put the pole into it and pull up. Climb up to collect a treasure.

Go back to the room with the stained-glass windows and observe them : each one represents an angel. Notice that the angels are shining, when the rest of the window isn’t, but their outline isn’t perfect. Grab the mechanism under the door and try to rotate it : the door will appear jammed. Face the central structure and take note of the four levers around it. Pull the first lever on the right : you will see the light changing around the angel on the right window. Repeat the operation : the angel is now perfectly surrounded by shadow.

Turn around the structure until you reach the opposite lever and pull it down three times. The second window is lit correctly (as shown in this screenshot), and the door is free. Grab the mechanism under the door and rotate it until the door is completely open. You have to be quick, as a chronometer starts. Run to the big pillar behind the structure, between the two gates. On its right side, jump to grab the small ledge, then jump up four times to make your make up (as shown here). Traverse to the right, jump up and pull up to step on the pillar. Locate the golden ring on the ceiling, catch it with your grapple and make sure you’re in the right alignment with the door. Jump and swing to reach the entrance.

[Checkpoint] Get rid of the six spiders running to you and follow the hallway. Pick up a health pack on the ground. [Checkpoint]

Treasure #9 - Destroy a jar in front of the stairs and collect a treasure.

Treasure #10 -Follow this hallway after the corner and pick up a treasure in the dead-end. Got back and follow the stairway.

In the next cut scene, Lara ends up in some sort of cabinet. She finds the second gauntlet on a desk, and a tape recorder. When she activates it, the voice of her father explains the situation : Richard Croft brought lots of things from Coastal Thailand, including two thralls, whose cages are broken. Among other things, Lara’s father also kept a picture of the map to Avalon.

Kill the two thralls jumping to Lara. How do you kill the undead ? With a lot of bullets and a little jump. Shoot a thrall until it collapses under the bullets. Once the creature is on the ground, approach it and use the Interact button to give it a final shot. Pick up a health pack near the cage.

Treasure #11 - Locate a broken balcony above the room and a small pillar next to it. Place the movable pillar nerby, stand on the small pillar's ledge, then jump to the top of the movable pillar. Stand on it and make your way to the broken balcony. Pick up a treasure and get down in the office.

Place the movable pillar behind the desk, next to a broken pillar. Step on the narrow ledge of the latter, then jump forward to step on the movable pillar. Jump again to reach the top of the broken pillar. Locate the small beam on the left and jump to reach it. Hang from it and shimmy to the right.

Treasure #12 - While hanging from the broken pillar, look behind and notice a small platform. Jump and land on it to collect one more treasure. Jump back to the pillar and keep on shimmying right.

Pull up to step on the broken beam. Notice the little ledge on the next pillar hanging from the ceiling and reach it. Shimmy to the right end until you’re back to the exit. Jump to reach the tunnel. [Checkpoint]

In the next cut scene, as soon as Lara exits the room, she realizes that the gauntlet is drained as well, as was the first one when she left Thailand.

Treasure #13 - In the next tunnel, find a jar on the left side (as shown here). Break it to find the last treasure.

Head forward in the tunnel until you reach an electric box. [Checkpoint] Activate it to make the panel of the wall slide.

This cut scene repeats the one of the very beginning. Something explodes, and the manor is on fire.

Head forward but use caution when approaching the fires because you will incur damage. Follow the hallway, turn right and vault onto the blocks. Continue forward. At the end of the corridor, jump up to grab the edge and pull up. Climb the steps and locate the electricity box. Pull the lever to open the door.

[Checkpoint] Enter what's left of Lara's bedroom and carefully walk forward, avoiding the flames, and crawl under the collapsed wall. Grab the edge of the block on your right and pull up.

In front of you, locate the closed door with a yawning door knob. Keep clear from it (although Lara won't incur any damage if she stands nearby), and throw you grapple to catch the ring and pull : the door explodes with a backdraft.

[Checkpoint] Exit the room via the corridor and pick up a health pack in the right corner. Locate the ledge running along the wall and jump to grab it. Shimmy left until the end, then jump up to grab the upper ledge and move to the left again. At the end, drop down to grab the lower ledge, shimmy left and look behind : notice a part of the floor that hasn't collapsed. Jump back to land on it.

[Checkpoint] Locate the brown movable box on the right and push it against the wall. Vault on it, then jump up to grab the ledge and shimmy right until the end. Perform a jump to the right to pass the fire and carefully head forward.

Some rocks will tumble and the floor will collapse, taking the door with it. Perform a running jump to reach the door and climb onto the balcony. [Checkpoint] Head to the left until you reach the burning stairs. Locate the golden ring above them and use your grapple to catch it. Jump, swing to pass the flames and jump again to reach the other side.

Head to the right and locate a broken part in the railings. Hang from that edge and carefully drop down.

A cutscene unfolds: As Lara walks towards Winston and Zip, the latter points a gun and tries to shoot her. Winston attempts to stop him.

Winston: It's Lara!

Zip: I know...

He fires again. When he needs to reload, Lara bursts in and tells him to drop his gun. Zip tells Lara that someone looking a lot like her was in the manor earlier and stole Amanda’s stone. Lara tells Zip and Winston to get out of the house before the roof collapses and decides to go have a look at the security logs.

Approach the fireplace and grab the ledge on the right pillar. Pull up to step on it, then jump up twice. Once you grab the ledge running under the big picture, shimmy to the right until you reach the balcony. Head right and face the lounge. [Checkpoint] Locate the horizontal pole and perform a jump to reach it. Approach the glass wall and jump up to grab the metallic beam. Pull up and drop down on the other side.

When Lara enters the tech room, in the next cut scene, something catches her eyes behind the glass wall. What she thought to be her own reflection appears to be a doppelganger, paler with red hair. Quite similar to the Atlantean double she once met in Natla’s Mines, but more evolved. Lara make some moves, trying to understand if the creature will imitate her in every way, when Alister suddenly comes out from nowhere, coughing with the smoke. Without even turning back, the doppelganger shoots him twice. Lara screams and opens the secure door but when she turns around, she’s face to face with the double, who is smiling evilly. The creature beats Lara, preventing her from helping Alister. When the doppelganger runs away, it is too late, and Alister dies in Lara’s arms. Carrying her friend, Lara joins Zip and Winston in the park and lays Alister’s body on the ground. She declares she’s going to Mexico to find Thor’s belt. When Zip disagrees, arguing that she should stop her business because of Alister’s death, Lara says she needs the hammer and the belt to kill Natla.
